This weekend, we spent time discussing purity with our teens. We talked about how to honor God in our relationships, our words, and in every aspect of our lives. Purity is:
1. A relationship with Jesus.
2. Focusing on Jesus by filling our mind with Him.
3. Asking for accountability.
Purity is more than sex inside the covenant of marriage. Purity is allowing Jesus to live and speak through us. While of course this was great for teens to hear, I appreciated the reminder as well. It is so easy for me to focus on rules and lose sight of my main, and only needed focus, Jesus.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8 ESV
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 ESV
