I have a love/hate relationship with Spring. Nature screams of new beginnings as flowers begin to bud… but of course pollen covers EVERYTHING and with my allergies, I want flowers but I plead for the pollen to be gone ASAP.
As I prepare my heart for Easter Sunday and have been reading through the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection, the weight of my sin seems so heavy. Much like this past week of high pollen counts and yellow dusted cars and sidewalks, my heart was truly covered in sinful desire before I became a Christian. Everything that I did was to please myself or others. But God showed compassion upon me, and upon you, when he chose to send His only son to die on a cross for crimes He never committed. Jesus became the sacrifice for my sin. His blood cleanses me of everything I have done to disobey God when I asked for forgiveness and decided to follow Him.
This morning as rain poured and pollen began to drift in streams down our road, it was a reminder of how Jesus’s blood truly took away my sin. I had more than just a week of sinful decision piled in my heart, and He washed me clean. The precious blood of Jesus can do that for you too.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.”
