“Remember when you came to my house?”

Last week one of my former students stopped by my classroom to see me. I introduced her to our guinea pig and talked about first grade life and how much we missed each other. Then she asked me, “Remeber when you came to my house?”

My heart smiled, real big. I said, “Of course I do.”She couldn’t remember what we talked about that day at her home, but she remebered that her teacher came.

That’s the beauty of in home visits. They don’t take money. They don’t even take a lot of time. They are a simple, yet impactful way to make a true impression of love and care on a student and their family. Even two years later, a kiddo wanted me to know that coming to her house a few times was her favorite thing.
